Rehab Clinical Assistant

About the Role

Under the guidance of a Rehabilitation Therapist, and adhering to departmental protocols, the Rehab Clinical Assistant offers technical support to patients across various age groups. Responsibilities include assisting with non-licensure dependent tasks such as administrative duties, aiding patients with therapeutic exercises, documenting patient progress in electronic medical records, facilitating whirlpool therapy, providing patient transportation, maintaining departmental supplies and equipment, and delivering exceptional customer service. Please note that all patient-related activities performed by the Rehab Clinical Assistant are non-billable. Additionally, employees must demonstrate competencies specific to the served population.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Prior experience in healthcare preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire
  • Completion of organization, department, and job-specific competencies within three months of hire
  • Familiarity with medical terminology advantageous
  • Proficiency in operating PC/mobile devices and interpreting data

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming and assisting individuals entering the department
  • Managing linen stocks and ordering supplies
  • Ensuring cleanliness and sanitization of patient areas and equipment
  • Responding to equipment maintenance needs
  • Accurate charting of patient exercises in electronic records
  • Collaborating with therapists on patient care plans and scheduling
  • Adhering to infection control protocols during whirlpool therapy
  • Supporting therapists during sterile dressing changes and exercise programs
  • Safely transferring and transporting patients as required
