How you will create an impact

  • Focused on Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Environmental, Property Damage, Coverage B, Long Tail, Bodily Injury or Class Actions, you will be responsible for a portfolio of high value, complex claims from coverage inquiry through legal liability assessment and quantum analysis, to timely and accurate resolution.
  • Your goal will be timely, accurate and customer-focused claim resolution, minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense – you will actively promote and demonstrate the principles of ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ in claims handling.
  • You will communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders in your role as our Complex Casualty technical claims expert and thought leader.
  • As a senior member of the team, you will act as a deputy for the Team Manager, and will provide training, and be a technical referral point for colleagues.
  • You will also contribute to continuous improvement in Claims by supporting Quality Assurance / Regional Audit processes, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders.

 

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Advanced knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements for Complex Casualty Claims.
  • Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills on higher value complex claims.
  • Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
  • A track record of following up effectively on recommendations from technical claims audits and continuous file handling improvement.
  • The ability to influence claims and non-claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy.
  • The ability to assist with technical training to the team’s claim handlers as required.
  • JD Degree Preferred

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ and NYC, NY the base salary range is $89,000-$110,000.  In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
