Challenge Course Facilitator (Seasonal)

Salary Range:$15.00 To 17.00 Hourly

The City of Leawood, Kansas is accepting applications for Challenge Course Facilitator (Seasonal) to work at our Ironwoods Challenge Course!

Summary/Objective

The Challenge Course Facilitator assists the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator in leading group programs and camps on the City’s Ironwoods Challenge Course facilities and ensuring the safety of participants.   

 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Assists the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator in the facilitation of group programs on the Carolina T-Wall, Alpine Tower, Caribbean Ropes Course and low ropes on the City’s Ironwoods Challenge Course facilities. This includes taking participants through team building activities and exercises on and off the Challenge Course.
  • Assists the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator with putting on camps that focus around the Ironwoods Challenge Course facilities and teambuilding activities.   Responsibilities include maintaining and updating camper records including attendance, consent forms, and emergency forms.
  • Ensures participants have met the pre-determined objectives and requirements for attending the course and follows required safety precautions throughout the use of the course.
  • Assists the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator in emergency rescue situations.
  • Assists the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator in ensuring all course rules and regulations are followed by patrons.
  • May be asked by the supervisor or acting supervisor to perform other duties that are not listed but are essential to the job.

Education, Training, and Certification Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school degree or equivalent, one (1) year of college preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience with highs/lows/knots/climbing.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience and/or certification in all aspects of facilitating groups through both High and Low type Challenge Course events, preferred.
  • Must have or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per the City’s drivers Use of Vehicles for City Business policy throughout employment with the City.
