Communications Social Media Summer Internship

Title: Social Media Summer Internship

Opportunity: The Information Technology and Communications Department (ITaC) is looking for an individual to fill a social media position at the Township for a summer internship program. This individual will be responsible for social media posts of Northville Township parks, buildings, employees, community events and more.

Eligibility:  Undergraduate college students
Duration: 10-12 weeks

Responsibilities: This position will work with the ITaC team to assist with social media content for Northville Township. This will include taking photos within Northville Township, writing social media posts, and analyzing data across all social media channels. The ideal candidate will also have experience with the latest social channels available to Northville Township residents and be able to make recommendations on which platforms would be best for telling the Township's story through social media. 

Criteria for Selection: 

Creative: Ability to bring social media content featuring locations, objects, and people to life through creative marketing techniques to enhance the overall message.
Personal Skills: Ability to be punctual for events, meet deadlines, and forge relationships with social media subjects and colleagues. 
Technical Skills: Ability to edit and format social media posts using social media management software, along with possessing basic computer skills. 
Detail-oriented: Ability to focus on details, especially in the approval process, ensuring that a clear and accurate message is delivered to the Township community. 

Process for Selection:

Submit a resume: All interested applicants will need to submit a resume to the Northville Township Human Resources Department (HR). 
Portfolio: Include any social media examples to demonstrate abilities.

Interview: Conduct an interview with applicant to verify experience, professionalism, maturity and that it is a mutually beneficial fit for both the Township and the applicant.

Offer Letter: Once an intern is selected, the HR Department will deliver an offer letter.

Commitment:

  • 10 to 12 week internship with 20 hours per week.
  • $20/hour
  • Each internship with be assigned one major project to be completed before the end of the internship.
