Location: Nashua, NH
Focus Area: Youth
Join the vibrant team at Nashua PAL Youth Safe Haven, an inspiring afterschool/summer program nestled in the heart of Nashua’s “Tree Streets.” We make a positive impact on the lives of nearly 400 at-risk youth annually. Our dedicated team, comprising two dynamic part-time staff members and a passionate group of volunteers/interns, is further strengthened by a full-time police officer assigned by the Nashua Police, ensuring a secure environment for our PAL youth.
In the face of challenges such as extreme poverty, familial substance misuse, involvement with gangs, and incarceration, our Youth Safe Haven program becomes a sanctuary where young minds thrive. We provide a safe haven where youth are not only protected but also engaged and focused on their education.
As a valuable AmeriCorps member, you will play a crucial role in empowering these young individuals. Your responsibilities will encompass homework assistance, facilitating remote learning, offering mentorship, planning and serving nutritious snacks, developing innovative lesson plans, and organizing and accompanying youth on enlightening field trips. Your efforts will extend to enhancing our community partnerships, thereby expanding our capacity for innovative programming.
Moreover, you will actively contribute to the success of our mentoring activities, ensuring they have a lasting impact on the lives of our youth. Each school day kicks off with a dedicated homework help hour, providing mentorship that sets the tone for an afternoon filled with educational and enjoyable activities. Our commitment to mentoring and community service forms the backbone of our programming, and you will be a key player in making a positive difference.
Join us on this rewarding journey, and be instrumental in creating a summer of fun at PAL Youth Safe Haven. Your passion and dedication will help shape a brighter future for the youth we serve. Apply now to be part of a team that is making a meaningful impact every day.
