Outreach Coordinator at NH Teen Center

Public Health AmeriCorps is a 1 year National Service Opportunity in the State of New Hampshire.

Location: Manchester, NH

Focus Area: Community Outreach, Public Health, Youth

Teen Institute, Manchester NH

NH Teen Institute’s (TI) mission is to empower teens to lead healthy lifestyles and create stronger communities through community-focused prevention and leadership workshops. There are two workshops currently being offered, the “Leaders in Prevention” (LIP) and the “Summer Leadership Program” (SLP.)

LIP is a middle-school program connecting students with their peers and communities resulting in better academic achievement, including higher grades and test scores, better school attendance, lower substance misuse rates, and better overall life choices.

SLP is a week-long session for high school students addressing substance misuse education, anti-bullying, acceptance, community-building, youth leadership activities, and acceptance of others. TI also conducts day programs at school districts throughout the state addressing these topics individually.

The AmeriCorps member will work with program staff to conduct outreach presentations at schools and with youth groups around the state to share information and expand the network of partners working with the Teen Institute. They will also partner with staff to implement the program with new partner organizations. During program sessions the member will collect and evaluate data to improve the effectiveness of the LIP and SLP workshops.
