VA Maine is currently performing below the VA National average on preventative health measures. Because of this, VA Maine is enacting a veteran’s performance measure improvement project. The Public Health AmeriCorps member serving at this site will work alongside staff at Togus to track and implement the goals of this project. The member will conduct data review of current performance metrics, identify gaps in practice and/or process, engage interdisciplinary teams in development of processes to implement best practices, develop education for veterans using a variety of available platforms, and evaluate all of these efforts with a report out to executive leadership.

Togus VAMC is the oldest Veterans’ facility in the country, having opened in the fall of 1866. Togus campus encompasses 500+ acres of buildings and natural woodlands serving as natural habitats for Maine’s wildlife. Additionally, the National Cemetery is located on the Togus campus.
