Location: Wales, ME

Focus Area: Public Health, Youth

Nestled in the picturesque Androscoggin River Valley, RSU #4 is a dynamic public school district catering to approximately 1300 students from the charming rural towns of Sabattus, Wales, and Litchfield in Maine. Situated amidst forested hills and lakes, our community boasts the perfect blend of outdoor recreation and a close-knit, laid-back atmosphere. Located on the outskirts of Lewiston, RSU #4 encompasses five schools spanning from PreK to 12th grade.

While approximately 40% of our students meet state benchmarks in Math and Language Arts on assessments, our commitment to education goes beyond numbers. With a mission to “Inspire All Leaders to Achieve Future Success,” RSU #4 is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of every student within our Pre-K through grade 12 programs.

We are currently seeking a dedicated member to forge meaningful relationships within our high school alternative program and middle school STEM initiative. This role involves providing crucial support to students to enhance their success in the educational environment. The scope of mentorship extends to include homeless/unaccompanied youth or those grappling with truancy. Our ideal member will seamlessly integrate into our school community, ensuring personalized support for the students on their caseload.

The member’s responsibilities include weekly one-on-one or small group meetings with students, offering academic assistance as needed, guiding them in their future plans, and being a compassionate listener to their challenges.
