Certified Athletic Trainer - Northwest Indiana

We serve a wide variety of patients, and are currently seeking Full-Time Athletic Trainers for LaPorte High School Sports.  Our AT’s cover ALL sports and home games, travel with football and any other sport based on need of the athletes, coaches and Athletic Directors discretion. Such as region playoff basketball, wrestling, lacrosse and our state championships are played at neutral sites. 

 

The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for injury prevention and treatment of the athletes.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the assisting in the administration of all aspects of injury/illness prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and health care education and counseling for student athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. This includes a primary sport(s) assignment, in addition will assist with all sports in collaborative team approach. This will include some nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel as necessary with selected intercollegiate teams.

  • Documentation of and maintaining accurate injury records.
  • Organization of rehabilitation and injury prevention programs.
  • Cooperation and collaboration with strength and conditioning staff.
  • Coordination and oversight of all necessary medical referrals.
  • Collaboration with team physicians, physical therapists, and other allied health-care professional providers.
  • Direct communication with coaches, parents, student-athletes, athletic administration, and other stakeholders when appropriate.
  • Athletic Training Room coverage. This will include being present in the Athletic Training Room during scheduled open hours to see walk-in athletes.
  • Perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to collegiate varsity sport athletic training service.
  • Promote and support the strategic plan of the School Athletics and the Emory vision of Sports Medicine Outreach.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications:

  • BS degree required
  • NATA certification required
  • Current Basic Life Support/CPR Card
  • Basic First Aid is desirable

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current NATABOC certification and eligibility for licensure in the state of Georgia
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members.
  • Strong writing, communication, administrative and organizational skills.
  • Two years of athletic training experience is preferred.
