Health Promoter (Promotora de Salud)

We are seeking an energetic, dedicated, Promotora de Salud that has a close understanding of the community we serve. The Promotora de Salud/Community Health Worker will provide direct support to our Health and Wellness Manager with recruiting program participants, facilitating health related workshops, community outreach, and coordinating food distributions. This is a great opportunity for individuals that enjoy connecting with community.

The Promotora de Salud responsibilities may include:

· Coordinate program events/workshops, participant recruitment, leading program activities and data collection.

· Helping people understand their health condition (s) and develop strategies to improve their health and wellbeing.

· Establish positive, supportive relationships with program participants and follow up with them as needed.

· Facilitate workshops, discussions, and activities around different health topics in English and Spanish.

· Inspire clients to become proactive and fully engaged in managing their health.

· Attend regular community events for community outreach and deliver health information using culturally appropriate terms and concepts.

· Attend required professional development opportunities.

· Coordinate Food Distributions one or two times a month.

· Assign volunteers positions during distributions.

· Support community partners with events/programs to promote food security.

· Ability to adopt a flexible schedule that requires after-hours and/or weekend commitments.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

· Bi-lingual in Spanish required.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Positive attitude and interest in assisting our community members/program participants.

· Valid Drivers License

· Ability to pass a background check

· Ability to work both independently and with other staff members.

· Ability to travel

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

• Grand Rapids, MI 49503: Relocate before starting work (Required)
