About the Organization

At the end of 2016, our friends Daniel and James opened our eyes to the terrible difficulties so many migrants endure as they try to build their lives in Lisbon. Originally from Nepal, they showed us the many hardships and injustices hidden under the comforts of a Portuguese lifestyle. It was then that we decided something should be done. After all, rights come with obligations. As 2017 came around we started doing our research. We started making new friends and listening to more stories. After all, in order to speak, one must first listen. We started meeting and partnering with other like minded people who have already been doing an amazing work encountering the needs of migrants in Portugal. After all, two is always better than one! A couple months later we found our home and in June we officially moved in. The Lisbon Project is the outcome of a few friends who saw a problem and took action to become part of the solution. After all, you must be the change you wish to see!

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance.

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.
