Summer Student - Government & Industry Affairs

An exciting summer student opportunity awaits a motivated student at our Washington, DC location beginning May 2024 for an approximate 3-month term. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly-paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work

 

What you will do:

 

  • Support the Government & Industry Affairs function with matters as needed, including legislative and regulatory activities critical to Nutrien’s global business operations, reputation, and performance.
  • Support US-based government and industry affairs and international teams as needed in the coordination of meetings, activities, travel, and operations, as necessary
  • Interact with government and industry stakeholders and network with Nutrien staff
  • Assist with government affairs-related issues, events, and activities
  • Coordinate office activities and operations. Support budgeting, invoicing, billing, and office procedures as well as expense reimbursement using Chrome River, Agri-Pay, & SAP applications
  • Assist with office space administration, vendors, and service providers
  • Provide coverage for team members who are out of office and other periods of high demand

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a Political Science or Ag Economics degree program and returning to school in the fall of 2024
  • Ag Policy background
  • A strong interest in working in government and industry affairs
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities with individuals at all leadership levels
  • Proven organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a high-energy environment  
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; and/or travel expense systems (i.e. SAP) would be an asset
  • Experience working with Government Officials is a plus
