Communications Intern

The Communications Intern will work under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Communications and collaborate with the Communications Specialist. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of communications while working in a great work environment. The intern will assist in implementing organizational communications and communication strategies. The intern will be exposed to the various aspects of communications including content writing, web content development, communications design, internal and external communications.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide administrative support including drafting communications
  • Assist in planning, writing, and managing e-newsletters
  • Update and maintain social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting scheduling and reporting Facebook and LinkedIn updates
  • Update organization website with current company stories and relevant news
  • Design fliers, graphics, and other communications materials
  • Provide input for creative communications strategies and social media campaigns
  • Manage editorial and news for bimonthly newsletter.

Education and Experience:

  • Completed or working toward a college degree (senior level preferred), preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Advertising or Public Relations)

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Completed or working toward a college degree (junior level and up), preferably in a related field
  • (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Advertising or Public Relations)
  • Knowledge of HTML, website content management and graphic design a plus
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling communication materials
  • Self-starter, good time management, creative, with ability to communicate in a professional manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to remain professional and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email and related business and communication tools such as Microsoft Teams and conference call set ups. In-depth understanding of entire MS Office suite, particularly PowerPoint. Willingness to learn other software applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written

Working Conditions:

  • Onsite – This is not a remote role. Employee must work at the Tampa Corporate Office working about 20 – 29 hours/week
