Civil Rights Specialist
Qualifications for this Position:
You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position.
You must successfully pass a background investigation.
Able and willing to deploy for 30+ days on short notice, possibly in austere conditions
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
Selective service registration is required for males born after 12/31/59.
Responsibility:
In this position, you will be responsible for providing overall support and serve as a specialist to the Civil Rights Team members deployed to the field. This position reports to the Civil Rights Advisor Lead (CRLD).
Essential Job Duties:
* Responsible for making recommendation on programs, services, and activities having direct or indirect impact on the posture of FEMA and its Civil Rights mission.
* Evaluate and report on civil rights enforcement concerns, draft related reports, correspondences, and other written materials.
* Assist in researching and/or locating reference information for Site Inspection Reports, DRC Soft Opening Reports, and DRC Follow-Up Visit Reports.
* Maintain and update the electronic filing system.
* Serve as support for the deployed Civil Rights Team.
* Performs all aspects of site inspection work overseeing a variety of ADA activities from inception to completion, which includes site inspections involving MCOVs, work-a-rounds, maintenance and alterations, and ensures compliance with approved plans, specifications, requirements, and established standards and codes.
* Attends DRC Coordination meetings, provides input, and addresses compliance issues and ensures that all work is acceptable and in compliance as part of a quality assurance and civil rights compliance review. Prepares site inspection narrative detailing construction progress, to include notes on inspections and recommendations with specific instructions and directions and maintains files and documents discussions and resolutions. Maintains systematic electronic reporting of ADA modifications to be used for various forms of reporting.
* Making recommendations regarding schedules, timeframes, procedural matters, and interpretation of accessibility standards in the field with facility managers, site inspection team members and various stakeholders associated with the facility intended for federal use.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
