Assistant Professor of Mathematics / Secondary Math Education Coordinator

Division of Science, Engineering & Mathematics

                                         

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the Assistant Professor of Mathematics position who will also act as the Coordinator of the Secondary Math Education B.S. program. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position, with the potential for tenure track, beginning August 12, 2024, located at the VU Main Campus.  There is also the possibility of a stipend during Summer 2024 to assist on accreditation report writing.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Teaching undergraduate lecture courses in primarily upper division math courses, including: abstract math; geometries; probability & statistics; analysis; linear algebra; and abstract algebra.  Other courses could include math methods, student teaching observation, as well as freshmen and sophomore mathematics courses. 
  • Meet biweekly with the Education Accreditation Team to assist with writing the Self Study for the Education Programs. 
  • Serving as an academic advisor and participating in related student success activities.
  • Participating in departmental academic assessment projects.

 

 

Required Skills and Preferred Qualifications: 

                                                                

  • Experience writing or knowledge of accreditation data collection and reporting.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using course management software such as BlackBoard or Canvas
  • Ability to work with a variety of learning styles and skill levels.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and administration

 

Physical Demands: Normal physical demands for successful work in a normal office environment.
