Supplier Quality Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supplier Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and has the primary responsibility to ensure that quality product is provided by our suppliers, reviewing engineering and manufacturing specifications, monitoring defects, resolving quality issues, and providing feedback to our suppliers.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for production.

Leads teams in problem-solving and process improvement for supplier quality through investigation of root causes, implementation of corrective actions, and effectiveness reviews.

Facilitate corrective action team; coordinates meetings to discuss solutions and results.  Maintains internal reports on corrective action process; summarizes data and reports results to management.

Collect and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.

Participates in supplier evaluations.  Manage Supplier Corrective Actions and Supplier Improvement activities.  Work with vendors to resolve product quality issues.

Periodically visits key suppliers and assists Supply Chain in conducting supplier audits.

Participates in Engineering Change meetings to ensure awareness to design changes, assists in implementing engineering changes, and reviews and approves First Articles.

Communicate with vendors on a regular basis to address any concerns, follow up on nonconformances, and supplier corrective actions.

Advise and support the Quality Technician on day-to-day production issues and process controls.

Creates and documents standard work processes and visual aids

Collect, maintain, and report on supplier performance metrics.

Work with Inspection and Manufacturing on quality issues

Serves on interdepartmental teams to represent quality interests

Identify and implement improvements to the established Quality Management System

Support 3rd party witness testing or audits

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Bachelors Degree + 3 years experience

Associates Degree + 5 years experience

 

EXPERIENCE

Background as a manufacturing engineer, quality engineer or quality technician.

ASQ Certification(s) preferred.

Experience with manufacturing and quality tools including

FMEA, Corrective Action Process, RCCM, PDCA

Experience with ISO 9001 certification and auditing

Supplier quality experience preferred

Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Word or equivalent.

Experience in MRP Systems (JDE preferred)

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Willing to travel 10-15% internationally and domestically

Approximately 40% of the time will be spent on the manufacturing floor

Lifting requirements are generally less than 25 lbs. Lifting could occasionally reach the company maximum of 40 lbs.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $62,200.00 - $93,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
