Who Is White Space Events?

White Space Events provides venue management for The Vineyard at 12 Corners and The Mendel Center, both located in Southwest Michigan. Within our operations, we maintain the facility, and coordinate logistics of getting event-related tasks completed in a timely and thorough manner so our events go off without a hitch.

Our sister company and partner, 1928 Planning Company, is fulfilling this candidate search on our behalf – as they play a robust role and have expansive knowledge over our venue operations and event success.

o  Mechanically inclined is preferred
o  Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 30lb weight equipment (tables, chairs, signs, lights, generators and other furniture) is required and will be asked of you. Sometimes done independently and sometimes completed with another individual.
o  Comfortable with occasionally being on a ladder to perform lighting setups

Position Duties:

THE KEY ROLE FOR THE VENUE LOGISTICS TEAM IS TO HELP ACHIEVE OUR MISSION OF HAVING A SUCCESSFUL WEDDING WITH AN EXCEPTIONAL VENUE PRESENTATION.
 
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
-              White Space Events operates The Vineyard at 12 Corners, a successful outdoor, tented wedding venue and the Mendel Center, a successful private events space, both in Southwest Michigan.
-              Event Logistics team members are the foundation for the events held there. They are the behind the scenes team that sets the events up for success, either in the days leading up to, or following an event, or day of, before the guest appear onsite.
o  Duties include moving equipment in and out of venue (often times tables + chairs)
o  Transporting rental equipment as needed
o  Install lighting design as arranged for that event.
-              Day of event assistance with venue cleaning, logistics and moving last minute equipment needs to help with overall event success, day of at both The Vineyard at 12 Corners and Solarium by Watermark (a venue in partnership with 1928 Planning Co. – our sister brand).
-              Re-setting venue after the events each week.
o  Cleaning up facility (including event trash and surrounding grounds), breakdown and storing of equipment, moving supplies to the venue, and transporting rental equipment as needed
-              Providing routine venue + equipment maintenance
o  Accurately executing work orders and logistical assignments that relate to the well-being of the venue or equipment
-              Assistance with the opening and closing for The Vineyard at 12 Corners. This occurs at the end of April/early May and the end of October/beginning of November.
 
 
 
 

Additional Information:

-              This is a part-time, year-round role with even more hours available during our high event season May – October.
-              Shifts have the possibility of being scheduled all days of the week, but with most focus happening on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. An expectation of working weekend hours is a must. Occasional evening hours will also be asked of you.
-              Location of shifts will usually be at the Vineyard at 12 Corners, Solarium by Watermark, The Mendel Center, or at our storage facility in Benton Harbor, MI.
-              Shift times will vary based on venue circumstances and event schedule. Although start times of shifts vary, most shifts average 4 – 9 hours in length.
-              Schedules are given a month in advance. You will be scheduled an average of 2-3 shifts per week, (potentially more at times) depending on event schedule.
o  We work well with team members who balance this job with another commitment in requesting time off, or needing flexible hours.
-              A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required. There may be occasional need for driving a Uhaul-sized truck to move equipment.
-              Personal phone use required for this position.
-              All-team meetings are scheduled monthly as a way to train in season and meet as a group. Dates will be given at start of season. Attendance at meetings is mandatory.
-              Compensation is paid at an hourly rate of $15.00/hour, dispersed bi-weekly. Opportunity for occasional gratuity from clients served and mileage reimbursement when visiting alternate venues will be possible.
