Human Resources Assistant-Advanced

The Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA), Division of Personnel Management, currently has an opening for a Human Resources Assistant – Advanced to work as part of the HR team serving the Departments of Revenue (DOR) and Veterans Affairs (DVA). This position is headquartered at the Wisconsin Revenue Building, which is conveniently located 5 minutes from downtown Madison, just off the Beltline and the Capitol City bike path. This recruitment may also be used to fill positions which support other state agencies.

Position Summary

This position provides a wide variety of administrative and technical support to HR staff members, department staff, and external customers. Major activities include the support of recruitment and staffing activities, employee onboarding, and staff transactions. Duties include reviewing and processing various personnel documents; job postings; data entry; filing and organization; and other administrative services supporting the workforce. The incumbent will use various electronic tools including spreadsheets and other specialized software for data entry.

Salary Information

 

The starting wage is between $26.00 and $28.15 an hour. Current state employees pay will be based on the provisions in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. This classification is in Pay Schedule 81, Pay Range 04. A twelve-month probationary period will be required.

Job Details

 

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow Region 4 HR to conduct a criminal background check, tax compliance checks, and fingerprint checks on candidates prior to offer of hire.

Qualifications

 

Minimally qualified applicants will have training or experience with:

  • Data entry (e.g., transcribing, updating information, creating records, verifying, and editing data, etc.); and
  • Drafting professional documents for distribution (e.g., creating business documents, memos, letters, reports, executive summaries, etc.). 

     

Well qualified applicants will also have experience with (in addition to the minimum qualifications):

  • Data entry and drafting professional documents in a human resource role or setting; and
  • Coordinating recruitment activities (e.g., recruitment outreach, facilitating new hires orientation, provide customer service to hiring supervisors, candidate correspondence, etc.).
