The Quest for Health Equity (Q4HE) Internship Program at Quest Diagnostics offers students the opportunity to gain experience working at the world’s leading provider of diagnostic testing, services, and information that patients and doctors rely on to make better healthcare decisions. The Q4HE team works to help remove the barriers deepening health inequities in under-resourced communities while improving equity in testing, screening, and diagnosis. Q4HE Summer Interns have the unique opportunity to work directly with Quest scientists, and medical, marketing, and lab operations professionals.

Interns will also have the opportunity to apply their background and skills gained in education to various process improvement, medical research, and health equity projects. 

Program Highlights

  • High visibility role with immediate responsibility and projects
  • Rotation length: 10 weeks; 40 hours per week.

Customer Operations

Lab Operations

Rotate through lab, working as a lab assistant

Lab Operations-Engineering

Assist with cost-saving initiatives tied to lab

Lab Operations

Human Resources

Hybrid

Secaucus, NJ (HQ)

Support various HR service initiatives and obtain exposure to various areas such as HR Analytics, Project Management and Talent Management

Microbiology

In-Person Only

Support microbiology automation projects by reviewing and streamlining automation services and culture review.

Specimen Processing

In-Person Only

Pittsburgh, PA

Review electronic requisitions for barcodes that will not scan. Identify and trend clients and types of barcodes/requisitions to gain efficiencies in processing.

Cardiovascular, Metabolic & Endocrine (CVME) Clinical Solutions

Hybrid

Secaucus, NJ (HQ)

Research market needs, technologies, competitors, and published literature for potential product offerings related to wellness (e.g. gut microbiome testing)

Lab Operations-Engineering

Support industrial engineering-type projects within lab

Quest for Health Equity

Virtual

Health Equity projects: Lead projects that are aligned with the Foundation's interest in investing in marginalized communities, increasing a diverse workforce, and advancing equity in diagnostics and research of projects include surveying community health needs, preparing reports on findings, presenting findings, and with the team learning how to lead market analysis of opportunities across the US in priority communities.
