Acoustic Analyst Intern

RSG is looking for students who are passionate about acoustics to apply for our summer 2024 internship program! As an intern at RSG, you’ll work with our analysts and can contribute to interesting and challenging projects. You will assist in projects in noise control or engineering services ranging from energy, transportation, mining, government, recreation and tourism, commercial, industrial, and architecture sectors. RSG encourages interns to use their internship experience as an opportunity to explore what interests them.

Our internships begin in May and end in August. The successful applicant will work from our office in Vermont (White River Junction). Our Denver office location may be considered in some cases.

Education, Experience, and Skills

Current undergraduate or graduate student who is majoring in acoustics, science, math, electronics, engineering, or other related field.

Strong interest in acoustics.

Analytic, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Well organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Interest in or aptitude for working with data and conducting analyses using statistical packages, databases, and spreadsheets (e.g., SPSS, Python, SQL, R, or Excel).

Interest in conducting site visits and making sound measurements.

Experience in or desire to learn acoustical engineering practices.

Basic proficiency with MS Office tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Aptitude for using technology in work processes.

Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Previous experience with data collection or other aspects of scientific studies is desirable, but not necessary.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.

Ability to travel.

Ability to hike at least 4 miles.

Ability to carry up to 30 lbs of sound monitoring equipment.

Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, or computer printer.

Ability to clearly communicate with colleagues and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
