Risk Management Intern

We seek a dynamic and motivated Risk Management Intern to join our team and support various aspects of our risk management department. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in risk management, insurance, and safety practices, along with excellent communication and analytical skills. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Renewal Data Collection, Carrier Conversations, Claims Management, Employee Benefits, Loss Control, and Safety procedures within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Key Responsibilities:

Renewal Data Collection:

Assist in gathering and organizing data for insurance policy renewals.

Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely submission of renewal information to carriers.

Conduct data analysis to identify trends and patterns for improved risk assessment.

 

Project-Specific Insurance Program Management:

Organize project details for accurate credit worksheet completion.

Coordinate with the program sponsor/administrator for optimal compliance. 

 

Carrier Conversations:

Participate in discussions with insurance carriers to understand policy terms, conditions, and coverage options.

Support the negotiation process for optimal insurance terms and pricing.

Document and communicate carrier responses and decisions to the team.

 

Claims Management:

Aid in managing insurance claims by collecting relevant information, documentation, and records.

Assist in coordinating claim filings, tracking, and follow-up with carriers.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective claims resolution and timely updates.

 

Employee Benefits:

Support the administration of employee benefits leave programs.

 

Loss Control:

Participate in the development and implementation of loss control strategies and initiatives.

Collaborate with team members to conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigating potential losses.

Assist in the review and analysis of loss control reports and recommendations.

 

Safety:

Contribute to the enhancement of safety protocols and guidelines to minimize workplace hazards.

Assist in employee safety training initiatives and promote a safety awareness culture.

Assist in the investigation of safety incidents and the implementation of corrective actions.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Qualifications:

Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program related to Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Strong interest in risk management, insurance, and safety practices.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Prior internship or work experience in risk management, insurance, or related fields is a plus.

 

Duration:

This internship opportunity is a 2-month engagement in Summer 2024 with a flexible start and end date based on the candidate's availability.
