Environmental Awareness Intern

We are looking for an intern to lead School, Corporate and Community workshops with the aim to raise awareness about plastics pollution and climate change .The intern will start with a best practice training and assisting at the workshops. Finally, the intern should become fully independent by the end of the internship. The other responsibilities include helping with the operational tasks to run a charity and to assist with the organisation of one of our yearly events "THE BIG WEIGH IN" which takes place all over Ireland. The ideal candidate will have a background in Environmental/ Sustainability studies or Marine sciences and be able to communicate complex environmental topics in an easy understandable and fun way. The intern should feel comfortable with public speaking and have a proactive approach. This internship provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience with the work of an environmental NGO. The intern will report directly to our CEO and Project and Operations Manager. As a charity we are happy to listen to new ideas and will be happy to give space for their execution so we can increase the charity impact TOGETHER. 

About the Organization:

A marine environmental charity in Ireland who aim to educate, inspire and mobilise individuals across the island of Ireland to protect our beaches, oceans and marine life. The successful 2022 intern will assist in the organisation of our cleanup programs, help to manage and recruit volunteers, organise supplies and data and educate the public about the results of our cleanups and the effect of marine debris on the coast of Ireland.

 On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance. 

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.
