Material and Analytical Sciences - Intern

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative intern to join our Material and Analytical Sciences department located at Ridgefield, CT. As an intern, you will tackle real challenges, expand your scientific skills, and gain extensive experience and insights of pharmaceutical development/engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze the images from experiments of crystallization/dissolution in wet lab and develop algorithm to assess kinetics/thermodynamics of the processes quantitatively.
  • Program scripts for data collection, integration, and management
  • Demonstrate the workflow including both data collection and analysis using model compounds
  • Assist in labware design for automated image recording
  • Showcase your work with a final oral presentation near end of your internship

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
  • Major or minor in related field of internship
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university
  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Graduate students in Chemical/Biomedical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar fields
  • Experience with image analysis/processing and data management
  • Proficiency with Python/Matlab
  • Experience with 3D printing and CAD highly preferred but not required
  • Understanding of basic principles of physical chemistry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.
  • Highly motivated to learn and execute multitasks in an effective manner

Compensation Data

This position offers an hourly rate typically between $20/ hour and $33/ hour commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
