Volunteer Title: Project Faulu Intern Volunteer position, unpaid
Hours: 8 hours a week Status: Flexibility on choosing desired schedule

Location: 2130 Enterprise St SE Kentwood, MI
Summary:
Project Faulu Interns work closely with the Programs Coordinator and team of other volunteers to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment for students with a refugee background. Project Faulu is our K-8 program designed specifically for children with a refugee background, focusing on language and culture, creativity and inquiry, academic engagement, and positive social skills. Our goal is to provide students with opportunities to create and learn in a community of peers and volunteers. Tasks include assisting the Program Coordinator on program needs such as collecting volunteer reports and student records from schools, conducting analysis of various program feedback and assessments, while assisting in the day-to-day responsibilities. Initial and ongoing training/check-ins are required.

Interning Duties:
- General administrative duties such as printing, filing, copying, communication
- Commit to interning consistently on a weekly basis, for the duration of at least one full semester.
- Recording daily student and volunteer attendance.
- Requesting any missing volunteer logs.
- Report progress and/or issues of concern to the Program Coordinator
- Assist with conducting analysis efforts with student behaviors and organizational services.
- Working closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure their time is best utilized.
- Locating additional learning materials as needed by groups.
- Helping organize other materials, snacks, and games.
Desired Qualifications:
- Must be a Michigan Resident or have temporary residency in Michigan.
- Willingness and ability to pass State and Federal background checks.
- Currently enrolled in college (Majors in Social Work, Education, Public/Nonprofit Admin, International Relations, and related fields encouraged to apply)
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
- Self-motivation to identify and support students in their educational and social emotional needs.
- Ability to work with K-8 students with diverse populations and make them feel welcomed and safe.
- Strong verbal and writing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrate teamwork and integrity with staff, fellow volunteers, students, and their families.
