The role:
Join our team as a vehicle policy analyst where you will help to develop, evaluate and improve Oregon DMV’s vehicle programs, which are critical to protecting vehicle ownership interests and the safe use of our roads. You will apply critical thinking to resolve complex issues and improve our programs. Your work will directly support the division’s strategic goals of delivering excellent customer service as we execute our legal authorities with a focus on good stewardship of public resources, safety and equity. A day in the life:
- Provide policy analysis and advice to DMV leadership and operations.
- Lead issue resolution in assigned program areas.
- Establish guidelines, polices, and procedures for new programs.
- Monitor and evaluate program operations and delivery for effectiveness and compliance with federal and state laws.
- Assist with the adoption revision or repeal of administrative rules.
- Develop and recommend legislative concepts designed to improve assigned programs.
- Analyze impacts and implications of legislative bills.
- Respond to inquiries from the public regarding all vehicle-related program areas.
- Provide vehicle program subject matter expertise to DMV projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate and resolve escalated customer issues related to vehicle programs.
- Work in a standard office environment with occasional travel both in and out of state required. Hybrid options available after completing trial service.

Minimum qualifications:
Any combination of experience and education equivalent to five years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification;
OR
A bachelor's degree in business or public administration, behavioral or social sciences, finance, political science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; AND two years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.
