Game Development Associate Director

Job Summary:

Resilience, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the mental health of students, as well as reducing mass shootings, suicide, and depression. Resilience, Inc also works to combat declining test scores, low student engagement, and a slew of other social issues. 

  

Our organization focuses on offering Social Emotional Learning tools to enable K-12 schools to teach emotional intelligence through five core topics; self-awareness, self-control, social awareness, relationship management, goal setting, and effective decision-making. Resilience, Inc. also provides tools for acquiring and maintaining inspiration, hope, and overall well-being.

Resilience offers unpaid internship programs that require at least a 4 month commitment with a minimum of 5 hours per week. There are flexible start and end dates with the option to continue after meeting the minimum requirement

 

Although this is an unpaid internship, there is the opportunity to earn school credit. Some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.

 

A Game Development Associate Director oversees and manages the creative and technical aspects of video game development projects. This leadership role involves coordinating and guiding interdisciplinary teams, setting project goals, and ensuring the successful execution of game development initiatives. The Associate Director collaborates with various stakeholders, including designers, programmers, artists, and producers, to align efforts with the overall vision and objectives of the game. They play a key role in decision-making, resource allocation, and problem-solving throughout the development lifecycle. This position requires a blend of strong leadership, project management, and game development expertise, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality and innovative gaming experiences.

 

Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Project Leadership:
    • Collaborate with the Game Development Director to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Assist in leading and motivating cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Contribute to the development of game development strategies, including innovative concepts and features.
    • Participate in the planning and execution of long-term game development roadmaps.
  • Team Management:
    • Support the Game Development Director in managing and mentoring team members.
    • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure the highest level of quality in game development.
    • Participate in playtesting sessions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Creative Input:
    • Contribute creative ideas and insights to enhance gameplay, storytelling, and overall user experience.
    • Collaborate with design and art teams to implement innovative game features.
  • Technology and Tools:
    • Stay updated on the latest technologies and tools in the game development industry.
    • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to improve development processes.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Game Development, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong passion for the gaming industry and a deep understanding of game design principles.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with game development tools and platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
