The Zeeland Welcome Center (ZWC) is a program of the Zeeland Historical Society. The mission of the Zeeland Historical Society states that we are dedicated to preserving and

interpreting the history of Zeeland and the surrounding areas for future generations. The ZWC is used as an outreach arm to help promote Zeeland as a whole. Because the ZWC is relatively new, opening in June 2023, the ZWC Communications Intern will have the exciting opportunity to to shape the communications strategy as a whole.

 

This internship includes managing the website for www.zeelandmi.org and the Facebook and Instagram accounts. It will provide experience with crafting a communications strategy and creating content.  The intern will be responsible for writing a bi-weekly blog post, a monthly newsletter, and regular content on Facebook and Instagram for the ZWC.

 

This intern will work with the director of the Zeeland Historical Society to create a content calendar at the beginning of of the internship. The website and social media strategy will flow from this content calendar. 

 

The internship is unpaid, however, the Zeeland Historical Society will work with the student to meet internship requirements for college credit. Regular internship hours can be from 9:00-5:00 on Monday-Friday. Ideally this intern will be onsite at least once a week at a regular time, but the rest can be done remotely if desired. 

 

Qualifications: Ability to work independently. Proficiency in writing and editing. Previous experience with wix preferred, but training will be provided. 

 

ZWC Communications Intern Objectives

  1. Develop Cotent Calendar for the duration of the internship.
  2. Write a bi-weekly blog post
    1. Content can be featuring resturants, attractions, or upcoming news in Zeeland
  3. Post Regularly to Facebook and Instagram
    1. Share blog posts once posted
    2. Share any other relevant, timely information
  4. Update the website zeelandmi.org
    1. Upload blog posts
    2. Update content as needed.
