Vincennes University, Early College, is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the role as the Dean of Career and Technical Education. This is a full-time, professional staff position located at our Aviation Technology Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. This individual will be responsible for developing a comprehensive strategic plan to advance the quality and reach of VU's CTE dual credit offerings.
Reporting to the Associate Provost of K-12 Programs and Partnerships, the Dean will:
- Serve as the statewide lead for VU’s CTE early college sites across the state.
- Develop strategies that grow VU’s dual credit CTE partnerships and initiatives.
- Ensure that VU has the systems and processes necessary to maintain quality CTE dual credit instruction, certificate, and degree completion.
- Support educational partnerships among Vincennes University, K-12 education institutions and career centers.
- Ensure the consistency and integrity of CTE dual credit courses at all sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direct supervision of instructional delivery, advising, equipment and day-to-day operations to CTE Early College assistant deans, professional and support staff throughout the state.
- Lead collaborative efforts that support high schools and career centers in developing completion oriented dual credit programming specific to their needs.
- Oversee the collection, organization, and monitoring of student success data for CTE Early College (completion and success rates).
- Work collaboratively with VU personnel on course offerings and scheduling, faculty credentialing, teaching assignments and problem solving.
- Maintain budget and operations consistent with university policy and procedures.
- Represent VU CTE Early College with appropriate memberships on university, state, and national organizations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting and financial administration.
- Knowledge of trends in dual credit programming
- Knowledge of National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Programs (NACEP) accreditation.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Strong skills in computer and database applications
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Administration or related field required.
- At least 4 years of administrative experience in secondary or post-secondary education required.
- Demonstrated experience with K-12 CTE partnerships, strategic planning and leadership results oriented with strong collaboration, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by VU’s dual credit students and employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned Doctorate in Education, Administration, or related field.
- 4 years of senior-level administrative experience in secondary or post-secondary education.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Normal physical demands for successful work in a normal office environment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to utilize hands for general office work including typing, filing, answering telephones, and writing.
