Substitute/Limited Term Information Clerk

The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) is recruiting to add to the substitute/limited-term pool for Information Clerk. The Information Clerk will welcome, check in, and direct visitors and the public, answer the SDCOE general phone line and direct callers appropriately, and provide general information to the public regarding SDCOE and its programs and services. The Information Clerk may occasionally be asked to come in early or stay late to cover special SDCOE meetings and events.

Requirements / Qualifications

The substitute/limited-term Information Clerk requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, and six (6) months of clerical experience involving office clerical work, telephone reception, and direct interaction with the public. The Clerk must be able to perform basic office tasks, answer telephones, provide excellent customer service, and communicate with all levels of SDCOE staff and the general public.

Candidates passing initial screening will be invited to participate in a written and/or performance examination.

It is important to note to become a substitute/limited-term employee, there will be a fingerprinting requirement that currently costs $77 (this is an up-front, out-of-pocket cost that must be paid in the form of a money order or cashier’s check). In addition, if you apply and are selected for a permanent position at any point there would be an additional $77 cost (currently) for fingerprinting as a permanent employee (taken out of your first regular paycheck).
