Student Intern - Environmental Health & Safety (Summer 2024)

What you can expect in this position: Under the direction of the Environmental, Health & Safety Leadership, the Student Intern plans and performs tasks and activities related to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) processes. The Versiti EHS Internship provides an overview to various aspects of the EHS functions.  This internship will give exposure to process standardization, project management, record management, quality assurance, accident prevention/response, emergency preparedness, processes that reduce risk of harm to people and the environment, and cross-functional teamwork supporting Versiti's mission of enhancing and saving lives. You will work on project(s) that will have a measurable impact on our business while being coached and mentored by various EHS team members. This internship is designed to provide an opportunity to gain professional and diverse experience through a hands-on approach with a multi-state EHS department.  This team offers long lasting career learning, which reaches into a broad spectrum of educational backgrounds and studies. Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross functional CapStone Intern Project with report out to Executive Leadership.
  • Maintains effective communication with internal and external stakeholder via email, phone and in person meetings.
  • Participate and contribute to department meetings, execute on goals and objectives to deliver outstanding results.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures

Qualifications

Education

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program in a related field of the internship required

Experience

  • Completed a minimum of 2 years in college/university in a related field of study for the internship preferred
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Effective communication skills preferred
  • Ability to be customer-focused and follow through on requests promptly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills preferred
  • Ability to quickly and accurately understand instructions and then work independently on assignments preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately preferred
  • Demonstrates keen attention to detail preferred

Tools and Technology

  • Personal and Network Computer required
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required
  • Printer, fax, and copy machines required
  • Multiple phone lines required

When you will work?

  • This is a full-time, 40 hour per week internship, working Monday-Friday. The internship will begin on June 3rd.

 Our 10 - week summer internships are designed to provide hands-on, project-based experience in the area of EHS.
