Chemists/Microbiologists/Biochemists - H1b, OPT, and TN Visas Sponsored if Needed

RTI Laboratories, located in Livonia, Michigan, is seeking chemists/biologists to join its team of laboratory professionals. The laboratory is fully accredited per ISO 17025 (A2LA), MI-EGLE, NELAP, and DoD ELAP for a wide range of test methods, including ASTM and EPA for water, wastewater, soil, sediment, and hazard waste matrices. The analytical chemist will perform routine analytical techniques involving wet chemistry methods and operate advanced instrumentation such as GC, GC/MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, and HPLC, among others. The position offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The company will sponsor H1b, OPT, or TN candidates if needed.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Run backlog reports and plan daily work schedules to meet target dates and holding times.
  • Perform analytical testing by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform sample preparation as per prescribed methods.
  • Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Perform peer review of analytical batches.
  • Support co-workers and help in building a solid team and work ethic.
  • Maintain equipment maintenance logs.
  • Ensure that the facilities, instrumentation, and equipment are maintained well and in good working order at all times.
  • Follow laboratory quality system and chemical hygiene plan.
  • Follow the chemical hygiene plan to ensure workplace safety.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • Experience in an analytical testing laboratory, preferably in a commercial environmental testing lab.
Ideal candidate:
One who possesses:
  • Experience working in a fast-paced commercial testing laboratory.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS, and IC, etc.
  • Experience with Standardized Test Methods such as ASTM, ISO, SAE, EPA, and other international standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 17025.
  • Knowledgeable in Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Responsive problem solver and action-oriented.
