Art Apprentice Intern

The Art Apprentice Intern will have the opportunity to assist with all facets of ACT’s Art Apprentices class. ACT’s Art Apprentice class provides inclusive visual art opportunities for transition aged students with disabilities (ages 18-26) who are interested in developing a portfolio of artwork, exhibiting and selling their work. The Art Apprentice Intern will support the teaching artist and students in weekly classes, help students prepare portfolios, artist statements and bios, and assist with administrative duties related to the Art Apprentice’s exhibits and sales.

Duties & Educational Opportunities 

• Program assistance and oversight; including prepping materials, setting up the studio, tear down of materials and studio furniture 

• Contribute content to social media platforms and ideas for promotional materials 

• Participate in recruitment of volunteers to support events and event preparations 

• Office administrative assistance 

Reports to: Program Coordinator 

 

Time 

10-25 hours/week (consistent weekly schedule, with some exceptions for special events)

Preferred hours include: Generally between the hours of 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday

• Must be available during weekly Art Apprentice classes (typically Thursdays between 8:30-11:30am) 

• Potential to stay Monday or Tuesday evening until 7pm 

• Flexibility for occasional pre-planned special events during weeknights and weekends 

 

Skills & Characteristics 

• Highly attentive to detail 

• Experience exhibiting and/or selling artwork a plus 

• Reliable, self-motivated, ability to work independently 

• Passionate about the mission of ACT; the arts/cultural community and offering accessible programs for people with disabilities 

• Understand importance of equality and inclusion 

• Creative and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
