Client Services Navigator (AmeriCorps)
This is a national service commitment through AmeriCorps, not an employed position. Serve for 12 months with the Alaska Public Defender Agency as a Client Services Navigator! We connect with justice-involved individuals living in poverty and connect them with resources in their communities to address their non-legal barriers to success (housing instability, substance use, mental health challenges, food insecurity, financial instability, connectivity struggles, etc.).
Our Client Services Navigators serve full-time in 8 communities across Alaska, embedded in our Public Defender Agency offices and serving alongside Agency attorneys and support staff as part of our clients' holistic defense teams.
Client Services Navigators receive the following benefits:
- Living Allowance: $17,600 for the 2023/24 year, $18,700 for the 2024/25 year
- Medical/Dental/Vision insurance at no cost to members
- Student Loan Forbearance
- Segal Education Award upon successful completion (equivalent to the max Pell Grant amount)
- Member Assistance Program
- Airfare (or equivalent mileage reimbursement) to Alaska and from Alaska upon successful completion
- $500 Onboarding Stipend
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in higher education or career paths in law (public defense), social work, case management, offender reentry, corrections, public safety, and any adjacent fields. Many of our program alumni have gone on to law school, MSW programs, and paraprofessional positions within the agency and in agencies in related fields both in Alaska and elsewhere in the country.
