JOB SNAPSHOT
Assist with marketing of events at the Gary Byker Memorial Library of Hudsonville. Management of social media accounts and online engagement with patrons for scheduled programs. Creation of promotional materials both digitally and in print. This position has potential for part time status upon internship completion.

Our ideal candidate would be a creative thinker who is passionate about community, marketing, social media, and graphic design.
A positive attitude, ability to work toward a common goal as part of a team, and ability to build relationships with library staff and patrons is important for this position.
We are seeking an innovative mind with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. This individual will be able to multitask, remain flexible in workflow, while meeting project deadlines. Preferred scheduling would primarily take place M-F between 10AM-2PM.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following:
- Management of social media accounts and schedule applicable postings.
- Content creation for community engagement.
- Use of innovative intellect in creating catching artwork for advertisement of events.
- Effectively communicate with the public needing information regarding library offerings in a positive and professional manner.
- Assist with programs that entice residents to engage with library activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
An employee in this class should have the equivalent of the following knowledge, training, and experience:
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
- Knowledge of modern office procedures and practices.
- Skill in operating personal computers and other standard office equipment.
- Skill in Canva.
- Knowledge in Facebook/Instagram and other networking sites.
- Self-Motivated and possess the willingness to learn.
- Must be able to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing, in a way that reflects positively on the library.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Comfortable interacting with a variety of individuals and personality types.
- Required training includes graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Some appropriate college courses in marketing, business, art, library science, or other related field preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- This position pays $12.50/hour
- 10-15 hours per week
- This part time position does not include medical or retirement
matching benefits.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Assistant to the Library Director.
