We are inspired to be part of a solution to the crisis in healthcare for the elderly. There are many that do not qualify for nursing homes and there is a shortage of availability in the area. AgeWise is a local consulting agency that provides personal guidance for those who have concerns for an elder loved one’s safety or wishes to enhance their quality of life. We collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate the best care options. Example: at home private pay, veteran affairs, at home rehab, attorneys, physicians, residential care communities, sub-acute and acute rehabs, and hospitals. There are several placement facilities that have openings; however, most cannot afford the cost. Some people are within a couple hundred dollars short a month, leaving them high risk of injury and then impede on the hospitals as frequent flyers in ER or lean heavily for family members to care for them. We would like to pursue funding and grants to help offset the costs for those that need care, however, do not qualify for Medicaid waiver or need it sooner.  The goal is to create a program that has funding to help bridge the gap financially to provide appropriate care.
