School Counselor (Grades 9-12)
The following position for the 2023-2024 school year is available:
Position: School Counselor (Grades 9-12)
Qualifications:
· Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the School Counselor (NT) Endorsement OR
· School Counselor License (SCL)
Requirements:
· Must support and work within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework
· Promote the educational growth of all children in the school setting by assisting students to develop skills that enhance learning, as well as social and emotional well-being
· Familiarity and experience with Michigan’s Comprehensive Guidance Program
· Demonstrated ability to be a positive, collaborative leader with the highest degree of integrity, ethics and work standards
· Familiarity with Michigan’s Merit Curriculum, State assessments, and Advanced Placement (MME, PSAT, PLAN, ACT, SAT, AP Testing)
· Ability to provide effective individual or group counseling assistance in crisis or personal situations
· Ability to provide family, classroom or building-wide behavioral/counseling supports, and systems-level consultation
· Develop and maintain strong ties with state and local social service agencies
· Experience with computer applications and learning management systems related to scheduling, data input and retrieval, in addition to common applications of school based instructional technology
· Ability to make accommodations and work with diverse populations of students
· Responsibility to keep informed of, and comply with, state, district and school policies and procedures
