AmeriCorps VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America):
· Spend one year building capacity for non-profits and other poverty alleviating organizations
· Work 35 hours/week - may work 2nd job or take classes during their term
· Receive a modest stipend bi-weekly, benefits, and upon completion of service have a choice between an education or cash award.
Member Duties: Generation of Promise (GoP) is a ten-month experiential social justice educational program offered to high school juniors in Detroit and the metropolitan region. This VISTA would be a vital part the GoP Program. The VISTA will implement virtual program events, including monthly programming with local organizations and leaders. VISTA will facilitate recruitment and outreach; -organize alumni network relations; -develop program curriculum; - perform evaluation tracking; - Update social media content; -and research grant opportunities. -Organize the GoP Board of Advisors and Youth Council. An ideal candidate is a creative self-starter and is enthusiastic about youth leadership and social justice education.
