Communicable Disease Redesign and Reorganization

DESCRIPTION: This internship will assist the Kent County Communicable Disease Unit in providing a facelift to the currently existing Kent County Communicable Disease website. The intern will examine other communicable disease web pages at other accredited local health departments of a comparable size (500,000 residents served or more). Once a design format has been determined, the intern will work with their preceptor to update information on the website with the county's website vendor. The intern will also have the opportunity to learn about the daily work of a local health department communicable disease epidemiologist.

IMPORTANCE TO PUBLIC HEALTH: This work will be extremely helpful to the Communicable Disease Unit, as the COVID pandemic did not allow staff to update the information as frequently as desired. This information is often sought by community members.

PROJECT DELIVERABLES: The student will develop a design and reorganize information and update as much information as time allows on the website. The student will provide a presentation for Student Research Day about what they learned during their internship.
