ABA ROLI MEL Division Summer Internship (Paid)

The American Bar Association (“ABA”) has an opportunity for a paid intern to gain valuable experience while contributing to the important work of the ABA. Details are as follows:

ABA Entity: Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) Staff

Work Location: Combination of in-office and remote/telework.
Duration of Internship: sixteen (16) weeks
Hours per week: 29 hours per week
Paid: This is a paid internship. Paid interns are not eligible to participate in all of the ABA’s benefit programs. Paid internships are reserved for situations where the intern is not receiving academic credit and/or pro bono credit.

Description of Internship Opportunity: The MEL office is looking for an intern interested in producing literature and evaluation reviews, briefs, summary papers on current issues in international development, analyzing ABA ROLI’s digital database for rule of law program indicators, knowledge product curation and collation, and conceptualization of learning events and short discussions on rule of law, human rights, institutional reform, and other sub-themes. This would be particularly interesting for current graduate level student or a recent graduate with focus or coursework in international development, political science, data analysis, program evaluation, or development economics. Typical assignments will include literature review, program documentation review, to identify good practices, examples, and gaps; support in developing training materials for in person and virtual settings, where needed; basic data analysis, preparation of briefs, summary papers, or data visualization, as well as organization of discussions on these briefs/topics to strengthen learning on specific focal topics.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a paid internship, individuals must be 18 years of age or older, and authorized to work in the United States.
• currently enrolled in (or in a deferred enrollment/gap year status recognized by) a post-secondary academic institution (i.e. undergraduate, graduate) and in a program/area of study directly related to the purpose of the internship program; or
• a recent (i.e. up to one (1) year) graduate of a post-secondary academic institution (i.e. undergraduate, graduate) with a degree in a program/area of study directly related to the purpose of the internship program.

Relevant Program/Area of Study:
• International Development, data analysis, program evaluation, development economics, or political science

Additional Desired Qualifications:
• French, Spanish, Arabic or Russian language skills
• Strong research and writing skills
