Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer

 DLZ Corporation has a rewarding Entry Level Geotechnical Engineering opportunity in Columbus, OH!
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct geotechnical field work including soil borings and analysis, groundwater investigations and sampling, in situ subsurface testing, and geotechnical-related construction monitoring and recommendations.
  • Perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and other construction materials as needed.
  • Provide support to subsurface exploration (drilling) activities as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret field and laboratory information.
  • Data gathering, organization, and interpretation of subsurface conditions in support of site development.
  • Under the direction of senior engineers assist with the preparation of geotechnical recommendations for bridges, retaining walls, levees, and dams.
  • Provide computer aided design (CAD) support on a regular basis.
  • Writing drafts of field reports, inspection/engineering reports, and technical specifications.
  • Preparing construction plans.
  • Communicating effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients, and team members.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation of all construction project activities and quantities.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Plan.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, prefer emphasis in geotechnical engineering.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification within 6 months of hire required, pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • AutoCAD and MicroStation desired.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including; Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and comply with all applicable safety codes and requirements
