Meijer is seeking candidates for a summer internship with our internal communications team. The internal communications internship provides a college student with the opportunity to work in a fast-paced corporate communications environment, supporting the internal communications function that helps engage and inform more than 77,000 team members.
What you’ll be doing:

  • Executing various writing assignments in support of internal communications objectives.
  • Collaborating with various teams to understand business challenges and help determine where data insights will add value.
  • Reviewing existing data from email system and SharePoint intranet for trends.
  • Creating recommendations to improve readership and engagement for various audiences (e.g., frontline team members, field leadership, corporate, etc.) based on findings.
  • Presenting dashboard and strategy to communications team and senior leadership.
  • Supporting the corporate communications team by executing a variety of communications tactics, as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Progress toward a bachelor's or advanced degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field; 3.0+ GPA and junior or senior standing preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • An interest in using analytics to identify trends and insights and formulate recommendations for improvements. Some experience using Power BI or similar program preferred, not but not required.
  • Ability to gather and interpret data from various reports
  • Problem Solving - Probes all fruitful sources for answers, and looks beyond the obvious to assemble and interpret data
  • Active curiosity - Must enjoy gathering and digging deeply into data to identify opportunities and risks
  • Customer Focus - Dedicated to meeting expectations of internal customers
  • Relationship Skills - Can create positive working relationships with team members, leadership, and other internal constituencies
  • Communication Skills - Conveys the right information in writing and verbally
