Role:
Full-time position as Mental Health Assistant for adults/children with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders and/or developmental disabilities. Under the guidance of lead clinician, Mental Health Assistant provides support and crisis stabilization services to people with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in office- and community-based settings. Mental Health Assistant supports people who divert from psychiatric hospitalization and enhances supports after psychiatric hospitalization for optimal recovery. Mental Health Assistant provides supportive community services such as assisting and teaching a consumer to obtain housing, employment, medical care, transportation, recreation, financial benefits, and other available entitlements. Mental Health Assistant will have a significant focus on housing as well. Mental health worker must function well as part of a team and have good knowledge of community resources. Services are provided in home, community, and office settings under the supervision of Program Director and Program Coordinator and guidance of lead clinician.

High school diploma required.
Valid MI driver's license required.
Some evening or weekend hours are required.

Job Specific Requirements:
Experience working with people with mental health needs. Experience working in a community mental health clinic preferred. Ability to work as part of a team of professionals in a public mental health setting required. Ability to enter data efficiently and accurately into an electronic medical record.
