Software Engineer / Information Technologist II

Position Summary

The Enterprise Development & Integration (EDI) team assists in automating business processes and manages administrative information for MSU units by providing solution design, development, implementation, and system support. The team also consults on vendor selection and implementation for MSU departments and units.

Reporting to the Enterprise Development and Integration Manager, the Software Engineer will execute the full software development lifecycle. Primary duties for the position include:
  • Build technical solutions following business requirements and technical design documents.
  • Write well-designed, reusable code.
  • Execute software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
  • Develop software components Integrations with fully functional software systems.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes.
  • Document and maintain best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Bachelor’s degree; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience implementing and supporting enterprise applications and integrations; ability to manage large projects to completion using resources within and outside of direct lines of authority; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications

Experience with common development frameworks; experience with agile development; experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle; experience with Microsoft Technology Stack (SQL Server, ASP.Net, Web API); experience with automated testing frameworks; experience with Bamboo or similar CI/CD tools; experience translating requirements between clients and development teams; strong and clear written and verbal communication skills.
