Systems Administrator II

The Institute for Defense Analyses' Information Technology department is seeking an individual that is technically savvy and customer service oriented to join our team as a mid-level System Administrator. The System Administrator II is an on-site or hybrid position and serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems at multiple classification levels. This position applies functional knowledge to solve an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope. Due to the nature of this position, and the requirement for extended coverage, this position may be required to work hours outside of a regular schedule. #ITatIDA
Responsibilities:
Active Directory/Domain Controller Administration
  • Strong Active Directory/Domain Controller Management Experience
  • Understanding of FSMO Roles and experience with Domain Controller promote/demote procedures
  • Ability to resolve complex problems related to DC replication, sync, and other issues
  • Knowledge and regular use of AD tools such as DCDIAG
  • Experience and knowledge with Group Policy Management and OU structure, including ADMX/ADML templates
  • Perform Active Directory Services administration and management to include design, cleanup and routine maintenance and configuration
  • Experience in AD architecture and infrastructure (LDAP, directory replication, schema changes, etc.)
  • Experience in DNS, Kerberos and Windows Authentication
Exchange Server Administration – 
  • On Premise experience with Exchange Server Management and Administration (Exchange 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019) in an Enterprise Environment
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Exchange Servers
  • Provide primary support for mail gateway and spam filtering systems
  • Exchange Patching and Updates including updating Exchange in a DAG environment
  • Experience with DMZ environments
  • Certificate Management (Requesting/Generating and Installing)
  • IronPort/Spam Filtering is a plus
  • Resolve email related issues affecting multiple users
  • Monitor Exchange Backups
  • Experience with moving mailboxes between Databases in an Active/Passive environment
  • Experience with Configured Database Availability Group for high availability and Network Load Balancing with Client
  • Access Servers and Hub Transport Servers for fault tolerance and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of DNS
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field coupled with three years minimum experience in Information Technology, which includes two years in systems administration OR high school diploma with five years minimum experience in Information Technology, which includes two years in systems administration.
  • Possess technical and operational proficiency managing and supporting servers, systems, and software, preferably the Microsoft suite of enterprise software.
  • Experience with the following technologies is required: EMC Storage Systems, VMware technologies (ESXi, vSphere, vRealize), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Windows server administration (2012, 2016)
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and able to collaborate with diverse technology teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOD 8570 IAT II certification within six (6) month of hire.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
