Social Media Marketing Intern -General Services/Detroit Parks and Recreation

The social media marketing intern will work as a member of a team and report directly to the Chief of Policy and Engagement under the supervision of the Communications and Marketing Manager or the Digital Media Manager . The ideal candidate will be working towards a degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Photography, Videography or related field. The scope of work may include, but not be limited to:  
 
  • Attend community meetings, community outreaches, special events and press conferences to capture photo and video footage for distribution across social media channels
  • Working with diverse constituents in various areas of Detroit 
  • Create innovative reels and photos post to engage and inform users of departmental programs, initiatives and opportunities
  • Extensive use of various social media tools such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok 
  • Daily monitoring of social media  
  • Ability to research, design and implement social media strategies  
  • Regularly finessing messaging for the community.  
  • Engage regularly with online audience within determined channels  
  • Leverage performance data and metrics to optimize content.  
  • Require excellent written and verbal communications skills  
  • Pay strong attention to detail and organizational skills   
  • Prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines  
  • Show initiative and work collaboratively  
  • Perform other duties as assigned
