WFIRM 2023 Undergraduate Summer Scholars Program in Regenerative Medicine

The ability to engineer functional tissues and organs in the laboratory requires the coordinated expertise of many disciplines including cell and molecular biology, chemistry, engineering, and physiology. The 2023 program will be held Wednesday May 31, 2023 through Friday, August 4, 2023. Students accepted will carry out research under the supervision of prominent regenerative medicine scientists, be provided a range of “hands-on” and “virtual” research and educational activities, receive instrumentation training, attend specialized workshops, seminars, professional development, networking and social events. Students hone their communication skill, provide an oral overview of their research, and present scientific posters at the WFIRM Summer Research Symposium as well as be encouraged and provided support to submit abstracts for presentation at various professional scientific meetings. Projects are focused in several areas including biomaterials, cell and molecular biology, physiology, biomedical engineering, controlled release systems, biochemistry, enabling technologies (e.g., 3D bioprinting, organoids/body-on-a-chip for personalized medicine) cell and gene therapy, and tissue engineering.
AS AN INTERN DURING THE SUMMER OF 2023 YOU WILL ENJOY:
·      A competitive stipend of $5,500
·      Access to housing
·      Individually tailored research with faculty mentor(s)
