Health Program Specialist - Idaho Comprehensive Cancer Control Program

We are seeking a limited-service full-time Health Program Specialist for the Idaho Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (ICCCP). This position is located in the Division of Public Health in the Bureau of Community Health in Boise, ID and is eligible for telecommuting. This position is based out of the Central Office in downtown Boise, Idaho. Applicants may choose to work from the office in Boise or apply to telework. If telecommuting is requested and approved, applicants may be required on occasion to work in the office or attend in-person meetings and/or trainings.
 
Applicants should have strong oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, proven project and time management skills, and strong public health evaluation experience. This position may require some in-state and out-of-state travel to facilitate local and statewide meetings, trainings, and conduct site visits. The position requires an individual with skillful facilitation, relationship, and partnership-building skills.

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation of a full-time (benefits eligible) Health Program Specialist making $29.75/hour to an estimated $42.16/hour.

This is a limited-service position. Length of limited-service appointments are determined by the availability of funds such as grants, alternative funding sources and/or timeframes such as pilot projects, alternative funding sources or program termination.

Example of Duties
  • Assist with development of federal grant applications. 
  • Assist with development of program priorities, policies, and procedures in accordance with program, partner, community, and department needs.
  • Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate ICCCP activities.
  • Collaborate with public health partners to support cancer prevention and screening in Idaho.
  • Develop and monitor subgrants and contracts to reflect federal program requirements and to ensure that authorized activities, responsibilities, and deliverables are met.
  • Assist with preparation of progress and evaluations reports for federal funders, including data collection and analysis.
  • Assess program budget needs and prepare and justify annual budget request in coordination with the program manager.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute coalition activities with the Comprehensive Cancer Alliance of Idaho.
  • Maintain and develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and community organizations to support cancer control efforts in Idaho.

  • Some knowledge of public health practices.
  • Some knowledge of survey methodology and statistical procedures used to collect, analyze, and interpret data.

  4. Experience developing and managing public health projects. Gained by one year of educational or work experience.
  5. Experience providing health program consultation to organizations. Gained by one year of educational or work experience.
