Resource Development Intern

We do this by uniting resources from donors, workplaces, and grant funders with programs that address short- and long-term solutions to ensure that all individuals and families have what they need to succeed.

Campaign Associate Overview
Our Campaign Associate program is designed to assist the United Way through its annual campaign and also help you continue to develop valuable skills such as: meeting and facilitation, customer service, sales, organization and management, experience being a "Goodwill Ambassador", and increase your knowledge of United Way's critical role in the community.
You will work with the Resource Development Team to support and enhance United Way's visibility in our community. Through this program you will build a network of surrounding business contacts, be recognized as a community leader and gain strong customer services skills.

Resource Development Team Overview
This dynamic group of staff works with a variety of donor segments and corporate partners in Kent County. They develop relationships with affinity groups, Campaign Cabinet members, and corporate contacts that lead to long-term engagement with the community for new and existing partners through volunteering, corporate gifts, individual and employee gifts, sponsorships, and special fundraising events. Resource Development team members are ambassadors for United Way in the greater community in addition to their interaction with corporate partners.

Responsibility of the Campaign Associate
  • Assist and support the planning and implementation of workplace giving campaigns with assigned accounts
  • Support campaign special events
  • Facilitate account development by initiating campaigns, providing informational tools and materials, encouraging educational opportunities, and more
  • Pick up and manage the collection of funds from corporations and participate in fund processing internally by completing reports
  • Work to improve the ongoing streams of communication and relationships with all accounts in portfolio
  • Attend weekly Resource Development team meetings
  • Attend Campaign Cabinet meetings as possible
  • Deliver campaign materials, as needed
  • Keep the assigned manager informed on account status through weekly meetings

Time Commitment
This is a hybrid internship with 20 hours per week, approximately 3 days per week from 8am-2pm. The intern will work with their manager to determine weekly hours and days. This internship will run from approximately August 29th - November 18th. Occasional night and weekends are required.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Commitment to excellence and to providing exemplary customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and database management
  • Excellent Project Management/organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Flexible; can change focus and priorities easily; able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
