Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist

H & P Technologies, Inc. is a fast-growing industrial distributor and service company based in Warren, Michigan. We are searching for an Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist to join our team.

As an Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist, you will work closely with the division Controller to learn all the accounting department job functions. Responsibilities include performing A/R, A/P, invoicing, and general accounting for the division. Additionally, you will assist with other projects as determined by the Controller and division President.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee receivable collections. Apply collections, follow up on past due accounts and short payments, resolve any billing discrepancies, apply credits.
  • Forward any collection issues (including NSF checks) to the Controller and/or President.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Take credit card payment by phone, process the transaction, and post to the appropriate account after approval.
  • Perform reconciliation of the monthly credit card statement.
  • Enter payables into our computer system after first verifying them for accuracy.
  • Resolve any A/P or A/R discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Process weekly and monthly payments to our suppliers.
  • Post journal entries and assist with the maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements and performance reports.
  • Assist with tax compliance filings (sales tax, use tax, and property tax returns).

Background & Experience
  • Associates degree in accounting, or actively working toward a degree preferred.
  • Relevant accounting internship or work experience preferred.
  • Strong math aptitude, analytical skills and attention to detail are necessary.
  • Willingness to learn, be coached, and collaborate in a friendly, team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Excel.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent data-entry skills - must possess both speed and accuracy.
