Director of Church Ministry

JOB TITLE: Director of Church Ministry REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
PAY GRADE: 17 FLSA STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: Anywhere in U.S. POSITION TYPE: Full-time

POSITION SUMMARY
 
The director of Church Ministry is a full time role in The Center for Church Ministry and Multiplication (The Center) that supervises catalysts to help leaders and churches develop effective strategies of reproduction for disciples, leaders, and churches.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Create and implement a for assessing, designing and implementing reproduction strategies for churches, leaders, and disciples.
  2. With the Director of Church Multiplication, develop and implement pilot co-laboratories to experiment with new discipleship, leadership, mission and multiplication strategies.
  3. Work with classes to identify and develop fully functioning teams to carry out discipleship, leadership, mission and multiplication in the local context.
  4. In conjunction with the COO, implement an awareness campaign to help churches engage the vision of reproducing disciples, leaders, and churches.
  5. Develop and maintain a list of digital resources for multiplying church ministry for churches to utilize.
  6. Develop and implement a strategy of coaching and implementation of multiplication strategies.
  7. Supervise Church Ministry catalysts through development and coaching.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
SUPERVISION:

Supervision Received: Minimal to general - The supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priorities.
 
Supervision Responsibilities: No supervision, supervises other employees with full authority to make personnel decisions, provide coaching, etc.
 
ESSENTIAL QUALICIFICATIONS:

  1. Committed to the mission and vision of the RCA.
  2. A minimum of five years of experience in congregational leadership and in the design and delivery of leader development processes.
  3. A minimum of five years of experience in a proven catalytic track of leadership, discipleship and/or local mission at the church, classis, region and/or denominational levels.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in ministry or related field.
  5. Demonstrated ability to appropriately problem solve while working independently and as a team player; vision casting capability, leadership selection ability, team development, and utilizing the giftedness of others.
  6. High capacity for management of multiple activities and networking relationships, communication channels and information flow.
  7. Strong team approach to ministry.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  9. Ability to travel up to 40 days annually. 
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  1. Master’s degree in education, ministry, religion, or a related field.
  2. Ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament, a commissioned pastor, or currently working toward those certifications.
  3. Direct connections formed in cross-cultural ministry within RCA communities.
